Project, helping children from low-income families and rural schools go back to school prepared. Our first project for the year supported 35 students of Siwuralumulla Primary School, a rural school in the Mahara Divisional Secretariat, Gampaha District. Established in 1961, the school continues to serve its community despite many economic challenges. Even with limited resources, these students continue to shine — showing great talent in arts and sports.

📚 Kicking Off 2026 with Hope: Back-to-School Support for Rural Students

As we step into a new year, we are reminded that education remains one of the most powerful tools for change. At Raise Sri Lanka, we are proud to begin our 2026 journey with a project that sits close to our hearts — our Annual Book Donation initiative. This year, our first outreach supported 35 students from Siwuralumulla Primary School, a rural school located within the Mahara Divisional Secretariat in the Gampaha District.

Established in 1961, the school has long been a pillar of its community, continuing to serve generations of children despite ongoing economic challenges. What stood out most during this visit was not what the school lacked — but what the students carried within them. Their enthusiasm, creativity, and natural talent in both arts and sports were deeply inspiring. Even in the face of limited resources, their love for learning remains strong and unwavering.

This project was made possible through the generous contribution of Anjala Krishanthi, whose kindness helped ensure that these children could begin their school year with the tools they needed. We are equally grateful to our dedicated on-site volunteer team, Hard Truths, led by Harshana Lakmal Samaraweera, whose commitment and passion brought this initiative to life.

Moments like these remind us why we do what we do. Every book, every school supply, and every act of support brings us one step closer to a future where every child has access to education — regardless of their circumstances.

As we look ahead, we invite you to be part of this journey. Together, we can continue to make education more accessible — one child at a time. 💙💚
