Amidst our ongoing flood relief efforts, we are proud to share the completion of another meaningful community project—a permanent, private, and hygienic toilet built for a family of three in Digana, Kandy. A simple structure, yet one that means the world to them.
A Humble Request, A Life-Changing Impact
This request came from a grandmother living with her daughter and young grandson. With no fixed income and ongoing health and economic challenges, the family was unable to construct a toilet of their own. For years, they relied on a neighbor’s facility—an arrangement that offered neither privacy nor dignity.
What many take for granted—a safe and clean toilet—was a daily struggle for them.
Restoring Privacy, Hygiene, and Dignity
Thanks to the generosity of our incredible donors and the dedication of our Kandy on-site team, led by Amila Ruwanka, this family now has access to something every human being deserves:
- Privacy
- Hygiene
- Dignity
- Peace of mind
This new facility not only improves their daily living conditions but also reduces health risks and restores a sense of security within their own home.
Because of your support, this family now has one less daily worry.
Why Sanitation Matters
- Access to clean and safe sanitation:
- Prevents the spread of disease
- Protects vulnerable families during floods and extreme weather
- Supports women and children with safe, private facilities
In rural Sri Lanka, many families still face barriers to basic infrastructure. Addressing these gaps is essential to long-term community resilience.
Every Donation Makes a Difference
Every contribution—no matter the size—helps us continue our mission to uplift rural communities across Sri Lanka. Providing access to safe sanitation is just one of the many ways we support families in need.
Together, we are not just building structures.
We are building healthier homes, safer communities, and brighter futures.
