Welcome to the House warming of Somasiri's family (PROJ 004)

There is a lot going on due to the pandemic and shutdowns in the country, and we have been actively trying to seek donations for Food. But on the other hand, we have not forgotten Somasiri and his family who are also eagerly waiting to get shelter in their new home. Work has been progressing slower than usual but on Saturday, we managed to complete the house and hand it over to this family of three.❤

The priests came in for a prayer to the family and during the auspicious time, the new homeowners stepped into the house. We chipped in a few extra cash to get some food items, an extra mattress, table, cupboard, and rations for several weeks to make the occasion a memorable one for them. You can see the transformation of the family and how happy they are today to be able to sleep in peace and have a place to cook and the little children to study and achieve better than what their fate has given them with birth.

Our volunteer Sachinta Vishwanatha wrote in her blog,

"We aim for this venture by Raise Sri Lanka to raise Somasiri and his family’s life just enough that they gain the strength of mind with a safe secure space to live in, enabling them to use this foundation for their mental and physical health.

From there, let the dominos fall such that they raise themselves to a level to address the rest of their basic needs with a little more ease.

May this endeavor help their children get the mental and physical space to concentrate on studies, the mother to get the needed recuperation, the father to rest his head without worrying if the rain will harm his beloved family."

That's exactly what we achieved today! To our Raise "Sri Lanka members" who managed to put a roof above these people with their various amounts of donations for the month of October 2020, we thank you, and if the family could speak with you, you would know how every word that comes out their mouth has nothing but gratitude for all that you have done for them without expecting anything in return. May you all have an abundance of joy, wealth, and good health. (See attached list of donations for the project for the total costs of Rs. 275,000)

And lastly our volunteer Udayanga Wickramarathne with three kids to take care of your own, you managed to check up on every minor detail. To bargain, manage budgets, order materials, talk to builders, and all just to see these people have a place called home. May you and your good heart find nothing less of the happiness you managed to bring to these people today.
