FLOOD RELIEF - 25 families

Update - FLOOD AND COVID RELIEF DONATION.

Over the weekend, with your most generous contributions we managed to hand over Rs.4000 ration packs to 25 families. These families were facing financial instability due to the covid19 pandemic and then the floods hit and their lifestyles were even more disoriented. The requests were piling up and 25 families were carefully picked for donations.

As you see in the pictures, although the water levels has gone down due to the municipal involvement in cutting out some urgent drainage waterways to get the water out of their homes. The water marks are still raw and visible. Their furniture and other household appliances were all destroyed while their homes being waist up flooded.

We were to understand from the volunteers and the district officials that they were give. Cooked meals throughout the flooded times but now they needed to get back on their feet and we managed to provide them with the start up ration pack for the family.

Thank you to all the generous contributors for this purpose (flood relief and covid relief) through our fundraisers. And another set of contributions were through Shiran’s Birthday fundraiser and we want to thank all of you who helped (bills and list of contributors attached for your reference).

And for this initiative, physical support and coordination was from the team of volunteers of Hard Truths lead by harshana. They managed to quickly get involvement from the required authorities and district officials to ensure only families who couldn’t afford these expenses were given the help immediately through this campaign.
