INITIATIVE COMPLETION: Thank you for bringing Avurudu Back to Siyabalanduwa Monaragala this April 2022!

The prevailing economic crisis in Sri Lanka makes it harder for everyone irrespective of their social status. It is even becoming harder for Sri Lankans that have a low income and who thrive on a daily salary..

This year we could help 123 families with food packs for Avurudu 2022. The last round of Avurudu donations went out to 20 families in Siyabalanduwa Monaragala with minimal supplies to have a decent meal during the Awurudu season. Siyabalanduwa is a beautiful area yet very rural with low facilities. The schools need upkeep, hospitals need medicines and most of the villages are dependent on crops and farming.

Volunteer Pramila Silva helped us to coordinate the efforts of traveling through the villages by foot, tuk-tuk, and bike at times. It has been a lot of effort but a fulfilling donation campaign once you see the smile on these families. The pictures definitely do justice 🙂

As a Non profit org, we extended our hands to help these families because you responded to our Avurudu food pack fundraiser in March 2022 to make this Avurudu a little brighter for these families. We manage to collect over LKR 800,000 in total for this initiative (bills, list of contributors attached)

Thank you to all of you who donated for this cause!
