Restoring Clean Water for Niyadawanaya Vidyalaya
In many rural communities, access to clean drinking water is not always guaranteed—especially in schools where resources are limited. At Niyadawanaya Vidyalaya, this challenge became evident when the school’s water filtration system began to require urgent repairs. Over time, wear and tear had affected its ability to function effectively, putting students at risk of losing access to safe drinking water.
Recognizing the importance of this essential resource, our community stepped in to help. Through the generous contributions of our monthly donors and the committed efforts of the onsite volunteer team, Hard Truths Society, led by Harshana Lakmal Samaraweera, the filtration system has now been successfully repaired and restored. What may seem like a small technical fix has made a meaningful difference in the daily lives of the students.
With clean water flowing once again, students can focus on their education without the added concern of health risks. Safe drinking water supports not only physical well-being but also concentration, attendance, and overall school performance. It is a simple yet powerful reminder that maintaining essential resources can have a lasting impact on a child’s future.
As we continue this journey, each repair, each effort, and each act of support brings us closer to ensuring that every child—no matter where they live—has access to the basic necessities they deserve.
