Upekha' Bees bday Fundraiser for "Feed a Child" Program ❤

This program focuses on uplifting the conditions of malnourished children below the age of 5 years in Sri Lanka and was initiated by the college of Pediatricians in collaboration with the Family Health Bureau and Red Cross. Raise Sri Lanka has taken up sponsorship of 150 children in the areas of Bogowanthalawa , Maskeliya, and part of Ambagamuwa MOH areas. The overall number of children who are facing Severe Acute Malnutrition in Nuwaraeliya district itself is over 400 and unfortunately over the country, there are many more..

As part of Upekhas bday fundraiser, she along with her friends managed to raise USD 2997 (LKR to sponsor all 150 children for nutritious food packs every 15 days for the month of November 2022. A total of USD 2800 was spent for the month of November and the remaining balance of USd 200 will be used for Jan 2023 rounds. (bills from Cargills and the transfer scripts are attached for reference).

As part of this program, focus group discussions and empowerment questionnaires to plan out family strengthening and strategies for long-term food security were in place that day, and steps were taken to commence home gardening with mushroom cultivation as the first empowerment project as a more sustainable solution for the families. At the beginning of 2023, we are expected to receive a report on the progress of their health statistics and we are hopeful that these contributions have made a positive impact.

We want to thank all of you who joined hands with Upekha, and her for creating this generous fundraiser towards a worthy cause!
