Clean Water Brings New Hope to Bendiwewa Maha Vidyalaya

Access to clean drinking water is something many take for granted, yet for some communities, it remains a daily challenge. In a rural village in Polonnaruwa, the students and staff of Bendiwewa Maha Vidyalaya faced this reality every day. With over 600 students and nearly 60 staff members, the school struggled with limited access to safe drinking water—an essential need that directly impacts health, well-being, and the ability to learn effectively.

Recognizing this urgent need, our 2026 monthly community projects began with a mission to make a difference where it matters most. What started as a humble request from the school quickly became a shared goal—to create a safe and reliable water source for the entire school community. Today, that goal has been achieved.

This life-changing project was made possible through the unwavering dedication of the onsite volunteer team, Hard Truths Society, led by Harshana Lakmal, along with the generous contributions of our monthly donors. Their collective effort turned compassion into action, ensuring that every student and staff member now has access to clean, safe drinking water.

The impact of this initiative goes far beyond meeting a basic need. Clean water creates a healthier school environment, reduces the risk of illness, and allows students to focus on what truly matters—their education and future. It also brings a renewed sense of dignity and care to the entire school community, reminding them that their well-being is valued.

Projects like this highlight how even small acts of kindness can create lasting, meaningful change. As we continue our journey through 2026, our commitment remains strong—to reach more communities, respond to real needs, and improve lives in sustainable ways.

💙 Join us on this journey:

Together, we can continue to bring hope, health, and opportunity—one community at a time.
