Brain Surgery for Rashid

  • Project Start Date

    11-Nov-2021

We got an urgent call from our volunteer Chathura one night stating that there is a young boy at the age of 14 (Grade 9) going through brain surgery and there are screws and plates that were requested to be bought from outside. (prescriptions and bills attached)
The child Rashid, is a student of a school in Mabola where the mother a widow, a housemaid with 2 other children (girls).

When we looked at the family's financial situation we got to know that the mother has been going from house to house trying to collect funds for the surgery. They were very helpless and finally has reached out to the school principal to see whether there can be any help that can be rendered by her contacts and well wishes.

When we got to know about this, the boy was already in ICU and needed surgery to put the skull together with 8 screws. The surgery is not due to an accident but a condition tested due to his change in behavior responding to day to day events. Since we had a fund with our monthly donors we immediately approved the project after validating the hospital records. A payment was made to a supplier who took on the responsibility of delivering to the hospital to proceed with the surgery.

This week he is resting and now in the special care unit until the mind and the body functions are back to normal. We are really grateful for the donations this month that made this possible. Thank you for your kindness coz it really made this child lucky to see another beautiful day.
