Throughout human evolution, humans co-existed with animals in the wild. Trincomalee North Madawachciya Vidyalaya - Buckmeegama is taking an exploratory step towards strengthening the bond that we as humans have with nature. The school is constantly experiencing elephants roaming across the premises, exposing the school and its children to the risk of elephant attacks. Scientists have discovered that lime plants can act as a biological fence, as elephants are known to avoid citrus plants. The school and other regional officials initiated this project last week to plant lime plants as a biological fence around the school. The school has pledged to ensure appropriate care is taken until the plants grow.
