Back to school initiative for 2023 - 1st round of donations

This year for the Central Province campaign of Book lists, we managed to hand-pick 150 children across 28 rural schools. This is a very time-consuming process as the volunteers go into details of finding smaller neglected schools and get letters from the school principal to validate the authenticity along with the development officers in each area and to focus only on the kids that need the funding to continue their studies every year.

We focused on two main campaigns for the year 2022 in Central and North East of Sri Lanka. Back to school distribution event in the Central area was a big success and was conducted in the Theldeniya Nalanda Maha Piriwena. All the children from various regions attended the event. The children were delighted to receive the new books for their next school year and you can witness their innocent happiness in the photographs we captured.

It is a common observation that children lose interest in education each year due to their family's financial situation. At the start of every year, it is even more of a challenge for parents to find the money to send their children to school due to the pressure of family commitments. We make sure with your generous donations to make things easier year after year by providing for the essentials and making sure that the donations find their way only to the much-deserved.

Thank you to everyone who donated. Multiple sources funded this campaign in 2022 including fundraisers, and direct donations while partnering with our generous monthly member donations. A special thank you to our volunteer Udayanga Lakmal for managing all the efforts and Amila Ruwanka for all her on-location coordination with the district officers and 28 schools to make this a successful event. We also thank Harshana Lakmal for coordinating our donations from Colombo with the book suppliers.

Thank you and stay blessed this new year. Thanks for helping these children with their education with your blessings!
