Back-To-School 2026: Together for Their Tomorrow

In many parts of Sri Lanka, the start of a new school year brings both excitement and uncertainty. For families facing financial hardship, providing even the most basic educational materials can be a challenge. This year, however, hope arrived in the form of collective kindness.

Through the Back-To-School 2026 initiative, 93 students in the Kandy region were supported with essential books and stationery—tools that are often taken for granted, yet vital for a child’s learning journey. Among them were 41 students from Nawanaliya Primary School, alongside 52 students from surrounding communities, all from low-income families striving to give their children a better future.

This meaningful impact was made possible through the generosity of individuals who chose to give back. Contributions from Udeshi De Silva, Senani Koswattha, and a committed group of monthly donors ensured that these children could begin their school year with confidence and dignity. Their support reflects a shared belief: that education is not a privilege, but a right.

Behind the scenes, a dedicated team of volunteers worked tirelessly to bring this initiative to life. Led by Janaki Kumari, the onsite team ensured that every item reached the hands of those who needed it most. Their efforts transformed donations into tangible change—smiles, renewed motivation, and a sense of belonging for each child.

Every book distributed tells a story of opportunity. Every pen placed in a child’s hand represents a step closer to their dreams. These small yet powerful gestures remind us that when communities come together, the impact can be far-reaching.
